Job Title: Grant Support and Writer (Term-Limited, Ending December 2024)

Job Summary:

This position supports the Hummingbird Initiative (HBI) by overseeing institutional tracking and providing monthly reports for participants in the Hummingbird Initiative, including all quantitative (e.g., #certifications and training completed) and qualitative (e.g., student program feedback and mental health wellbeing measures) program outcome measures. This role will identify, write, and submit applications for funding opportunities for program sustainability as directed by Hummingbird leadership.

This position will be term-limited (December 2024) with the hope of sustainable funding. This position will be required to work from time to time on Saturdays and evenings, depending on grant submission due dates. This position will also be able to work remotely occasionally.

Key Responsibilities:

Grant Writing (60%):
  • Identify, define and develop funding sources to support existing and planned program activities as well as lead the development, writing, and submission of grant proposals to federal, state, and private funding agencies.

Grant Support (40%):
  • Study and understand the history, structure, objectives, programs and financial needs of the organization.
  • Research grant opportunities from government and non-government agencies.
  • Draft grant proposals+ and supporting documents based on the funding requirements of the organization.
  • Submit proposals to grant coordinators for approval.
  • Respond to internal and external queries on drafted and submitted proposals.
  • Maintain positive relationships with fund providers and other stakeholders.
  • Maintain records and submit reports related to grant opportunities.

Work Location:

Hybrid – this role is eligible for a hybrid schedule.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:
  • A bachelor's degree in business, business administration, finance, accounting, education, social sciences, healthcare administration, public administration, communications, information systems, English, communications, creative writing or a directly related field from an accredited institution. Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.
  • Four (4) years of direct experience with grants and/or contracts administration.

Conditions of Employment:
  • This position will occasionally work Saturdays and/or evenings, in order to meet grant submission due dates.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Grants administration related to community outreach and/or education initiatives.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in grant writing.
  • Experience with philanthropic, federal, and state grants.
  • Data analysis, visualization, and communication experience.

  • Excellent knowledge of proposal submission and fundraising process.
  • Ability to study and understand programs and funding requirements of the organization.
  • Strong research skills and knowledge of information sources.

  • Working knowledge of computers.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range for this position has been established as $70,551- $72,000.

The above salary range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.
