Position Summary

Reporting to the Director of Communications & Marketing, the Associate Writer serves as the primary writer for the Office of Marketing and Communications at the Law School. This position may require evening hours.

    • Partners and collaborates with leadership, faculty, department directors, and other stakeholders in the Fordham Law School community for interviews, research, and edits on written materials;

    • Maintains and updates Fordham Law School's online newsroom, including the posting of faculty media hits, through WordPress;

    • Occasionally conceptualizes, writes, edits, and submits marketing communications materials for the Fordham Law website, e-newsletters, print materials, and external organizations;

    • Photographs individuals, groups, events, and other aspects of Fordham Law School environment, when needed, to accompany stories on Fordham Law School's website and online newsroom as well as in marketing collateral;

    • Writes and develops social media content when needed;




    Required Qualifications: Education and Experience

    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required

    • Minimum of 1 year of relevant work experience




    Required Qualifications: Knowledge and Skills

    • Strong writing, editing, proofreading, fact-checking, and research skills and an eye for compelling facts and media assets.

    • Strong attention to detail and client consulting skills.

    • Excellent organization and verbal and written communication skills to ensure efficient workflow and task management.

    • Demonstrated ability to foster cooperative environments and work in a collegial fashion.

    • Ability to juggle priorities and manage concurrent projects from inception to completion on varying deadlines.

    • Strong work ethic and a growth mindset.

    • Has confidence in pitching ideas to the Editorial Director and other stakeholders in the Law School community.

    • Proficient in standard computer applications, including Microsoft 365 and Google Workshop. Demonstrated initiative, dependability, punctuality, and flexibility.

    • Successful candidates should have a knowledge of and commitment to the goals of Jesuit Education.




    Preferred Qualifications

    • Bachelor's Degree in journalism, marketing, communications/PR

    • Working knowledge and experience with web content management systems and WordPress are a plus.

    • Ability to learn new applications easily and desire to enhance computer application skills preferred.




    Minimum Starting Salary: $65,000



    Maximum Starting Salary: $75,000
